Trend: French Bulldog vs Labrador

French Bulldogs climbed from No. 14 in 2012 to No. 2 in 2021, then took No. 1 in 2022 — ending the Labrador’s 31-year stay at the top — and held No. 1 through the 2025 list (fourth consecutive year). Labs sit at No. 2 for 2022–2025.

2012 Labrador rank is omitted here because AKC’s cited prose for that year names the Frenchie’s rank (#14) without a parallel Labrador figure on the same pages we cite — we do not invent it.
